☝️Upwarding #76: Collectibles $$$, Breathing, Drihten me raet

An unopened G.I. Joe set from 1985.  Guess the current value and then read “Money” below.

Health/Wellness

I’ve been meditating every day since 1992.  Although its impact on my life has been profound, I find breathing exercises more effective for immediate stress relief.  I use the 4-7-8 method, box breathing, and Resperate.  But perhaps the most effective thing I do is, without stressing over making steady progress, extend your exhales for a few minutes.

Money

There were 1200+ comments on a Reddit post about “unpopular” but solid investments.  What intrigued me the most were the collectibles: rare Lego sets, Reserve List Magic Cards, graded Pokemon cards, and classic comics.  These seem pretty sound to me – the 1985 G.I. Joe set above is worth over $50,000.  Hot wheels from the 1960s can be worth $20,000 or more.  Similar returns exist for Barbies, comic books, baseball cards, and more.

It’s shocking how much English has changed over the years.  Here is the opening of the 23rd Psalm in Old English vs. Modern English:

“Drihten me raet, ne byth me nanes godes wan. And he me geset on swythe good feohland. And fedde me be waetera stathum”

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.”

Reflection/Quote

“Love me when I least deserve it, because that’s when I really need it.” – Swedish Proverb
