☝️ Upwarding #13: 2880 calorie pizza, Platinum Rule, Head Injuries, A Class Act.

Inclusiveness expert Kamron Hack recently exposed me to the Platinum Rule. The Golden Rule: “Treat others how you wish to be treated”. The Platinum Rule: “Treat others how they wish to be treated”. I like it better, don’t you?
My calm friend Thomas got a concussion in a car crash and came out punching at the air before collapsing unconscious. The excellent Netflix series Last Chance U documents Markiese King’s concussion that results in him trying to fight several other players a couple of hours later. Aaron Hernandez, an NFL player with a long history of repeated head trauma, became a convicted killer. Seems pretty obvious to me that head trauma = violent outbursts.

Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar acceptance speech brings new clarity to the term “class act”. Just watch from 1:23 to 3:23 if you are limited on time, to see the utter graciousness this man displays.
“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work…rather, teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
I’m trying to incorporate this more into my parenting.
